Happy Valentine's Day

Alexander McQueen

i remember hearing about the death of Alexander McQueen and being in complete shock - it was something you really couldn't believe because you had really no idea it could even happen.  there are few individuals who fill that void of "fashion designer as artist" in fashion today and i can strongly say that Mr. McQueen is one of those rarified gems.  i'm reading the new Patti Smith book Just Kids and there is this line, "that to be an artist was to see what others could not".  Mr. McQueen not only created and built the most beautiful and inspiring garments but created shows and spectacles that brought them all together in a world only he could have envisioned.  to create moments of rarified beauty and awe is the torch of an artist and sadly we've lost another of those spirits.  rest in peace Mr. McQueen.
