Mural Series # 1: Aimee's Bathroom
i started doing these murals on friend's walls. basically i work with cheap, basic black and white acrylic paint, a couple of brushes, and a cup of water - pretty bare bones. i don't really plan out what happens. it just happens. it's pretty stream of conscious - i usually start with a face, then it can go to a flower, a tree, the sky, a faucet - pretty random. it's fun for me to work like this without any real direction but to just rely on my instincts. working within an interior and its walls adds to that process - drawing around the corners of a room is pretty different than what the flat surface of a canvas or paper has to offer. once i start, the ideas pretty much flow out of me so it's fun to see where it takes me. you just hope your friends likes it since they're pretty much stuck with the wall after that. luckily it's been pretty okay so far ....
